Legal Relativity
Law - Legal Nonsense

Einstein tried to argue that everything is relative, and despite what some may say, law of course is no exception.

People have a tendency to label certain things as right VS wrong, moral VS immoral, ethical VS unethical, good VS evil, and of course legal VS illegal.

However law for the most part is never black and white, and we should never try and make it so.  Some of the worst injustices in the field of justice occur when the letter of the law says something is "criminal" when it is not, or when it says something is "legal" when it shouldn't be.

Arresting terminally or chronically ill patients for using "illegal" drugs isn't going to make anyone's lives any better but not arresting them could save a lot of human suffering. Arresting teenagers for having consentual sex isn't going to make the streets any safer, but it could destroy the lives of youths with great potential.

Laws are in place for a reason, to help the public, however when they start to do the opposite, that is when you have to start looking at them differently.

After all isn't all law relative anyway?

Politics - Sided Politics

Your plane crashes on a deserted island, your body is broken, there is no food for miles, and the only way to survive is to have sex with a big breasted 17 year old, acknowledge a gay wedding, smoke pot for medicinal purposes, perform an abortion, and torture a possible terrorist.

I really have to admit I hate sided politics.  I don't consider myself a liberal or a conservative, I'm not far left or far right, in fact I prefer to be either up north or down south.

However to pick a side when it comes to strong poilitical issue, and than to stick with that side no matter how irrational it may become, to me is ridiculous.

I don't think you can ever choose a definite side when it comes to many issues.

No men shouldn't have sex with little girls, but at the same time putting an 18 year old boy in jail for the rest of his life cause he was caught having sex with a girl 1 year younger than him is a joke.

Women should have the right to abortion, especially if they are raped or unable to safely carry a child to term, but at the same time treating the morning after pill like its a condom is just irresponisble.

Will gay people marrying hurt society? No!

Will legalizing pot for use as a medicine destroy the world. No!

Is torturing someone wrong? Yes! It is against their fundamental human rights granted to them as a human being.  However LAW 101 says this fundamental right can be violated in cases where not violating it may hurt the rights of other people.  So if a terrorist knows where a bomb is I'll be the first to hook his nuts up to my car battery.

Politics - Political Criticism
Written by Administrator
Monday, 06 August 2007

Everyone knows that most politicians are corrupt, ignorant, and pushing their own agendas.  So to get pissed off about it is about as futile as getting angry because your shit stinks.  Seriously you can bitch all you want, but it isn't going to change.

So you know what pisses me off?

People who make it their lifes mission to bitch about politics, to try and tell the world how corrupt the government is, to criticize every foreign policy move with a fine tooth comb, and then if they can't find any problems, they start a conspiracy about how the government must be covering something up.

Yeah sure, western governments are evil.. Well you know who else thinks western governments are evil?

Terrorists.

Now I don't want to call political critics "terrorists" and that is definitely not my intent.  All I would like is for said critics to just once admit that we have one of the greatest governments in the world.  No it isn't perfect, but at the same time at least you can criticize its imperfections without ending up with your head and body in separate pieces.

Just my two cents.

Is One Culture Better?
Everything Else - Culture

Some leftist liberal nutjob has probably been shouting in your ear since first grade that no one culture is better than another, but rather all cultures are different.

The same nutjob probably told you it is wrong to think your culture is better than another, and that you only think it is because of ethnocentricism (the belief that one's culture is better than others).

However the cold hard truth that nobody wants to admit is that some cultures are better than others in some ways.

For example: Everyone in the world knows that giving women and men equal rights is the culturally better thing to do.  This is why you see women's rights all over the world increasing.

Even in male dominated societies like Saudi Arabia, women are slowly (very slowly) being given more rights.  Up until 2000 women were not even permitted to get Saudi driver's licenses, but now they are.  Pakistan is even slowly changing its laws to give women more protection in areas such as rape.  Soon if things work out women won't need four male witnesses to report a rape.

I could keep on giving out more and more examples but the point of this example is simple.  Sexism is wrong, and cultures which promote the poor treatment of individuals based on sex are wrong.
